I can't believe, at the end of this year, I will trade in my X. We need a third row seat (twins and a third one on the way) The MB GL is the best candidate. Best third row seat, and plenty of room inside. We tried car seats on the third row of the new X and it was way too tight back there. I love the new X too. !@%!^%@!%!!!

I feel your pain Chileno. It's not easy finding a vehicle with a good 3rd row that is not the size of a yacht, esp. if you want German.(referring to 3rd row here) After looking long and hard at all our options, we settled on the R class, which has been satisfactory. Hopefully, this will all change with the introduction of the BMW V/F5. I still don't know if they will offer a 3rd row???

MB GL looks like Jeep Commander with MB badge. I guess the Chrysler designers were spending too much time influencing MB designers.

Did you look at the LR3? The 3rd row is pretty usable. I know it doesn't drive as nicely as the X5 or GL, however. I'm stopping at two kids, and plan to trade my LR3 for an X5 3.0sd, hehe.

Anyhow, I think BMW needs something a tad bigger than the X. |

Are you looking at GL 550?

The new X is a beauty, but too small. The Audi has a bit more space, but the third row is a joke. The Suburban is a bus. The Escallade has less space than the GL and drives like a big boat (drove it last week). The Volvo XC90 has space and a nice third row seat, but the drive is not up to par with German SUVs. The Lexus, Toyota Sequoia, and most of the Japanese SUVs with third row seats are underpowered (268hp). Then you have the QX56, Navigator and the likes, and to those I say, no thank you. Therefore, the one that comes closest to the X is the GL, not much choice as you can see. |

Since we only have 2 kids, the X5 is hands down our perfect SAV. There are deals to be made out there on the GL. My local MBZ dealership offered me a deal on a fully loaded $72K GL450 for the same lease terms and payments of my 62K X5 3.0. Good luck.

We just found out we're having twins (our first kids) 2 days ago. I thought no 3rd row was just fine, until now...
We may very well have a 3rd later on... My car has already shipped so it's too late for 3rd row... you can never plan for these things.
