Electric Impact Wrenches

Any of you use them? My compressor crapped out while doing the last cylinder of valve seals and I can't shell out the $$ for one that flows as well I need it to, to be worth it, right now. I still gotta remove the crank pulley which on there at 181lbft (it's been off before.), to reinstall the tbelt.

I'm looking at buying a used Ingersoll Rand one (corded) that max's out at 330lbft for $50. Any thoughts?

Thanks for asking Kevin. Just got around to it yesterday. Used the Honda crank pulley holder tool, and 3ft of leverage in addition to the breaker bar. Doing it around midnight with the garage open, it sounded like a gunshot went off lol.

Getting the lower timing cover is gonna be a serious pita. Ratcheting box wrench ftw.

negative on the electric.. those can only do about 100 or so ft lbs...

typically for the crank, you lock up the crank and use the starter to break the nut loose...

Yeah, the electrics tend to be pretty wimpy.

Handy to have around the garage for emegencies, especially for 50 bucks, but they sure don't have much torque, even the new fancy ones. I recently used a friend's brand new Dewalt electric to change a tire on a chevy blazer, and it wouldn't even break the lugs loose, had to use a 1/2 drive rachet, and the lugs were'nt really all that tight.

Can't do that. Most Honda engines spin counter-clockwise.

did it when i changed the water pump on the 3.2 v6 TL...

B, D, F (except S2000) and H series engines all spin counter-clockwise. Your starter trick would work if the crank was counter-thread.

Newer Honda 4cyl engines, K series and F20/22c spin clockwise. And I guess all the V6's do too since they haven't really changed since the NSX's and Legend's were introduced..
