Back in 2001, I went to the World Series game at Yankee Stadium where Dubya threw out the first ball. Shortly before gametime, a few fighters flew overhead. The people in the stadium were of course warned that it would happen when the announcer told them. However, I was on the street about 2 blocks from the Stadium coming from a deli, and on the street it was a big surprise. The ground shook, car alarms went off, and people dropped to the ground thinking something was going to crash. My sister, who had been in lower Manhattan a month earlier on 9/11/01, was still shaking a half hour later. While they are exciting when you know they are coming, I can only imagine the fear they must strike into people when they are attacking another country. But yes, they are the loudest sound you will ever hear.

Oh, they were very loud today. They flew right over me, car alarms were going off, little kids were crying, but just an awesome sight!!!
They are here in SF for Fleet Week, practicing today and tomorrow, and air show on Sunday. So we will hear and see them couple more times.

Great Pics,
I was once at the Ft. Lauderdale airshow which takes place over the water. We were out, like many of the observers on our boat. Suddenly, out of no where, the entire audience that was at sea, was straffed by the stealth bomber moving at very high speeds. It was so close, you felt like you could reach up and touch it. The sound was nothing less than breathtaking. One of the coolest things, I've ever seen.. Oh yeah, and one time we were coming back from a sailfish, fishing tournament. We were about 200 yards offshore, traveling South at about 30knots, and 200 yards outside of us, out of absouletely nowhere, a huge, US nuclear submarine broke the surface like a bat out of hell. That was two of the coolest things my eyes ever did see. B
