I have friends in Escondido that were evacuated at 3a.m. this morning. They have been extremely lucky so far that the fire turned south and west before their house. It came within 1 mile and turned.

THe bigger issue is that my buddy John and his wife both work for the SD Wild Animal Park and the park has been damaged. They moved some of the animals to the new animal hospital that is at the southern end/entrace to the park but not all.

Local officials are telling residents to go to Quallcom, but they can't get there because the 15 is closed.

Good luck to everyone, this is a an extraordinary tragedy.

My fam lives in Murrieta, Ca (Riverside County). They are caught between the SD fire and San Bernadino fire. My brother works in Oceanside and was stuck in traffic on the 15 (soutbound) for hours.
