update from the Apple Store:

I'm waiting for the data to finish transfering....almost done, about a half hour more.

I got a Canon Pixma ip2500m printer, for free w. rebate.

Wag, I got the 15'' matte, although i am typing this right now on the display 17'' glossy. I still like the matte though. and 17'' is far too big/heavy.

I'll give yall an update when I take it home!

Make sure to give us an update after you install Leopard when it becomes available after 6:00 p.m. Friday!

p.s. If you have not already, while in Front Row, check out the movie trailers area under videos .

SG: I think I'm going to wait at least a week before installing Leopard, to see what issues/bugs I should be aware of. Are you upgrading your BlackBook Friday?

A few more comments and questions--

Why I took the MBP over the Black MacBook ("Blackbook"):
Even though I knew the black macbook is plenty fast for me, I wanted this computer to be relativey "future-proof". This computer has the latest processor (SR) and related technology, so I should be ok for a few years. Also, as I add more data and programs, the 2GB of memory will come in handy, especially with Leopard. Speaking of Leopard, while I'm not an expert on this, I believe the MBP and the new iMac are most Leopard oriented and ready. Eg: graphics, other related stuff.
Also, I like the design better. The small-ish 13'' wasn't very efficient, and the screen always looked washed out. I didn't care for the keyboard design either. (its also not lit).

I am constantly suprised at the screen real estate. Things that filled the old window are much more open here. The build quality seems much better than the iBook. No creaks when I pick it up (very very light, too) and everything feels solid. Things that interest me: The fan is on. The fan was never ever on in my iBook. That did get hot easily ( and probably the reason for 2 dead HDs), but I have heard and know that MBPs run hot. Is this a problem? I do have a Targus Chill Mat (USB powered fan mat thing) but the MBP completey dwarfs it.
What do you guys recomend for cleaning and maintaining the metal finish? I want to baby this for as long as possible and I don't want smudges on the surface. Any other comments/issues fellow MBP owners that are out there have? Oh and I've also heard about MagSafe connecters melting and catching on fire. Apple pulled all of their MagSafe power equipment from the shelves, saying redesigned connectors are due later this month. Should I not leave the laptop plugged in overnight?
Thanks!

Congrats! I'm currently obsessing about a BlackBook. My wants are simple.
