How many of you in the USA would consider a BMW Diesel

This may be old news but sooner or later there will be diesel choices. Will some of you consider buying a BMW diesel product? If so which model?

BMW is announcing a lot of ’green’ news today for its model lineup. The 2008 BMW lineup will now have 22 models that achieve over 48mpg while emitting 140g/km or less of CO2 as well as increased performance. As we just reported earlier, the BMW 6-Series will get a powerful diesel-powered 635d. BMW also announced the new 123d for its 1-series range.
The BMW 123d is powered by a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine that produces an outstanding 201 horsepower. That gives the BMW 123d the ability to do 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds with a fuel-economy of 54.3mpg.
Available in 3 and 5 door variants, the123d is fitted with BMW’s Efficient Dynamics system that includes the stop-start function and brake energy regeneration.

I have one of those. Lovely 6 speed manual transmission. Cruises all day at 110 kph and 40 mpg (imperial gallon). The most astounding thing, is the acceleration when passing at high speed. Increases from 100kph to 140 kph in seconds and has you on the wrong side of the road for the absolute minimum.
Regards Colin.

Envious of your diesel...

When they finally get them here, in broad availability, they will
probably hang some serious price premium on them...

Count me in..... My wife's x3 and my 525 will be off lease in 2 years and I'd love to replace both with the diesel versions. I doubt the x3 will come in a diesel, at least for a while, so a diesel 5 wagon or x5 would work.

I'd be interested in one in one of the 5's or an X5, but not at ridiculous premium.
