Sorry Al wrong again.

I thought global warming was going to lead to more hurricanes and stronger hurricanes?

The irony is, it may be "global climate change" that led to the (much) smaller season this year.

From what I understand, the upper atmosphere winds are higher, which tears the tops off forming tropical systems, causing them to break up.

I love Mother Nature. Just when you've got her figured out, she pulls a fast one!

Every year, they forecast a higher than average number of tropical cyclones, and that there will be catastrophic hurricanes hitting the US and millions of Americans will drown and die.

Um, last year I don't think there were any major ones that hit the US. This year, it looks to be the same.

Global warming my arse. I enjoy a mild autumn and winter.

I am not a Gore supporter, but there were several category 5 storms in the gulf and caribbean this year that hit Mexico, and other anomolies such as hurricanes south of the equator which are relatively unheard of. Also the cyclone/typhoon activity in Asia-Pacific was busy too.

Show some stats..."Anomalies" in nature is common place. So are category 5 storms in any given season.

Yep...Also take into account differing salt levels have a lot to do with how hurricanes form. It just cracks me up that Al Gore jumps right in with Katrina type storms being common place to stir up panic when the facts don't support that claim.

Problem is we are 'attempting' to theorize what the past was based on a loose collection of facts. We can't possibly imagine what earth conditions were 15,000 years ago, let alone predict the environmental impacts of today. While I fully believe we are having a mildly significant impact on the planet, the planet also evolves along with it. We are not a threat, in any form or fashion, to the planet...we are a threat to ourselves

I think I'll go back to eating some godly steak to help "cool down" the planet.
