I sold my Mini S when I hit a rubber cone on the freeway and took out most of the front end. I'd hate to get in an accident in that tiny thing.

You couldn't fit the average American in it, secondly...how safe can that POS be? Yeah, I'd love to be in that next to a 18 wheeler going down RT70. Not to mention driving in a city is completely different then a commute from the burbs....
Rant & nearly off topic : Trying to address fuel cost issues by using a smaller car is the dumbest possible approach IMO. Instead of using the science we've learned over the Century cars have been around, we would rather simply reduce the weight and size for fuel conservation. Instead of manufacturing a better product.

The smart is remarkably safe as you can see in this video. The smart has been sold in Europe for almost 10 years now. In Paris you see them everywhere. I would say it is a great car for city and city commute driving but that is it.

Sorry, no amount of video will sell me on that being safe. I'm sure it is in keeping with most standards, but I'd prefer FAR more between me and the road (not to mention other cars going 60-90mph). But I'm sure at near 6'3"..oh..and male, I'm not the consumer they are aiming for.
