35mm Slides to CD/DVD? Any Experts here?
40 years ago; most are in amazingly good shape with saturated color and contrast...a few are fading. I would like to do a "winter project" and get these transferred to Photo CD or, DVD. I've lightly perused some of the scanners, including the "dedicated slides to CD scanners" units, but it makes my hair hurt. Jes'wondering if any of the Gang here has done this kind of project, what scanner did you use, tips & ideas & opins, etc. Thanks... BR,mD |

I think if i had to do this i might have a transfer service do the project, It may take a lot less time and now days it's common place to have it done and maybe not that expensive.

I started this over a year ago, but ran out of energy and inclination! I got about 1/3 of the way through and now my scanner is sitting unused beside the PC.....In retrospect I should've paid someone! It is a dull, dull job!

MD - use a service, trust me...
If you really want to tackle this, get a scanner with an auto-loader and it will cut down the time. Ron

Thanks for the opins & ideas, Gang...I see there are a few of us that
want to turn those knockout ol' Kodachrome & Ektachrome memories into to something more handy, in order to more easily bore the azzes off our neighbors and fams, .I clicked on all the links/units offered, and I have been digging around the net; I'll say this: none of these units will make me miss lunch, but they are damn pricey for what is basically a one or two time use. I am also going to check out some "services"; for 4-5 Bills, I suspect I can get some slides done, instead of buying a one time use unit. I hear ya' Gresch! Thanks, Gang...I'll let you know what I eventually ended up doing and how they came out. BR,mD |

I've scanned a few negatives for a book project and it was a PITA. Slides would be marginally better since they're not as delicate to handle. It's worth the money to pay someone else to do it. I'd give them a small batch first to see how they turn out before committing your entire collection.
