My real point is that as much as I love my BMW's, NAV is the electronic equivalent to their cup holders. And they bend you over to. If they had good NAV I'd certainly buy it. I don't have chome 20's either, lol. It's a personal choice. I don't mean to offend. I just don't think it's a good investment.

Voice Command Limited Use
I don't think any manufacturer's voice command is ready for prime time. First you have to work the system manually so that you know what the commands do. Then, you have to learn the commands. Then, it often makes you give the commands two and three times.
Until they get it right, I wish that they would just create functional touch screen interfaces. I'd like to know how many motorist with voice command in their vehicles actually use them. I'll bet it is only a couple of percent.

The error that BMW made was not keeping the wiring harness more universal. Having to retrofit the wiring harness is the biggest issue with this project. Other than that, it's not much more than a simple plug-n-play install/swap of components.

I spoke to my dealer about retro fitting it, and they told me whilst it can be done $ wise it was not worth it. After doing the calculations, it worked out to be $5k more than it would have been to order it when I got the car new from factory.
