Do you really need those wood dash accents?
Especially like this part: 5. Don't buy more car than you need or can afford It's awfully tempting to stretch your budget for that Lexus or BMW. But if the monthly payments will leave you car-poor, pass them by. Or at least look at some of the less-expensive models on which some of those luxury cars are based. For example, the entry-level Lexus sedan is really a tarted-up Camry. The entry-level Acura is a gussied-up Accord. Do you really need that expensive nameplate and the wood dash accents that will wind up costing you thousands of dollars? Last edited by alexz; 12-10-2007 at 06:35 PM.

 Kinda like the housing crisis. If you can't afford it then it's good advice not to buy it. ( I like it when folks pony up the money, buy the product then look for a way to save 3 cents on gas)  Quote:

A Lexus ES350 is a fancy Toyota Camry. An Acura TL is a Honda Accord with too much power to the wrong wheels. An Infiniti is a Nissan ('nuff said). A BMW 3-series is............a BMW 3-series.
 Btw, just put on the winter wheels/tires on the 325i. The steering is so much more communicative, the ride so much more quiet, and the tramlining alleviated. Now the ride's just too soft!

As with all our purchases, cars are a personal choice and they can change over time. I've had Porsches and BMW's, Lexuses, and Mercedes, but I've also had Jeeps, and pickups. My cars didn't get progressively more expensive, either. I bought what I wanted or what I needed (generally more the former than the latter!) Anyway, I think we live with our choices we make, so it doesn't matter. I've lived in expensive houses and eaten in more and moderate price ones and dined out 5 times a week. The right choice is the one you are willing to live with.
I do bristle about the 'bail-out' mentality I've heard lately regarding sub-prime mortgages, though. I don't care how much a bank is willing to lend you, I think you should be accountable for your commitments in life. Soapbox mode now set to off...

I agree with you sweeson, the only thing that I blame the system for is the pre-payday loans at unimaginable interests rates. I can sympathize with unintended expenses and a need for money before payday, the system shouldn't prey on these people. Just my opinion
