Gift giving in the office

What's the etiquette these days? Gifts to your direct reports? Gift to your boss? Gifts to your peers? no gifts to anyone?

My VP gets a gift, employees get cards with $150.00 gift cards...customers get corporate cards.

I've been buying my direct reports "token" gifts for years - about $250 - $300 total out of my pocket (about $20 each). I've also been giving my admin and my boss gifts at about $50 - $60 each. This year everyone's getting a card - about $15 total, including stamps. I'm broke this year and need to be in saving mode...

Does your company give you a budget for this? Mine doesn't... If they did, I'd be much less of a scrooge - my guys are great...

Christmas party paid for by the company, attended by all office staff and partners. This year we chartered a boat, had dinner and dancing.
Christmas lunch for the department, paid for by the company.
Dinner at my house for all department staff, with partners, my cost

Food drive (hampers) in the office, in lieu of gift exchanges.

No office gifts.
