Who've switched their X5 to 335i here? anyone?

Hello,

I've owned my X5 3+ years by now and really happy with my ride,
but after test drove my friend's 335i, I'm in love with it. (really fun to drive)
so I was thinking to sell my X5 and get 335i coupe.
did anyone switch their x5 to 335i here?
what's your thought? pros or cons?

other option will be a new m3, but there is long waiting list already.

I can get 335i in 2 months (I need to order it, since none of N.CA dealer has one with exact my wanted options).

what would you suggest?
just wait for new M3 or get 335i with whatever options I want then add good mods?
let me hear your opinions.

Well, I guess I can't imagine you getting rid of your X - perhaps the nicest one on the board...

But, if you're open to suggestions, why don't you look into a new Corvette? Probably twice as fun to drive as the 335 and about the same price right now. IMHO - I don't think there's a better value out there for the $$...

I have both... why? they serve 2 very different purposes and there is no comparison. Do you want a fast coupe that's moddable with not much space or is utlility a concern? You shouldn't have to wait for a 335i at all, there are tons of them all over the lots.

I was going to get a 335 coupe, but instead decided on the 535, with the M-Sport package. I traded the X5. I am enjoying it, I find it much more engaging to drive compared to the X5.

As SAN says, they are different vehicles for different purposes. I needed a car to commute to work in, and the X5 served a secondary purpose as a useful vehicle to carry stuff. We solved that problem by selling the 325xi and buying my wife an X3 3.0si, all essentially bought and sold at the same time.

Haven't put a piggyback or a chip in it yet (only just 2000 km today), but I was thinking about the Procede. Don't really need it, but if I do go ahead it may be with the Dinan ECU flash; something like 380 hp and a Dinan warranty for consequential damage, all from my local dealer. It just seems easier.

Funny you should say that, I looked and looked and looked and looked some more at the 335i when I was over the X, but I felt the 3 Just wasn't that nice, it's a good car, very nice but the interior is bland and offers nothing special, no passion, I thought our E46's Interior was much much nicer, So I looked elsewhere and I love having an SUV everywhere but the gas pump LOL

I got a new 335i coupe and love it, although my wife now has the X5. Plenty of mods for the 3 available and the savings on gas is significant enough to justify the switch. I probably don't need to mention how much more fun it is to drive

Personally, since the e92 is now in its 2nd year, I think you're better off with that than waiting for a M3. Plus the money you'll save on the 335 can go towards mods/procede and the performance will be about the same as an M3, with better gas mileage.

Also, I'm kinda leery about any new V8 engine. BMWs have always had excellent new I6 engines IMO, and this twin turbo one is probably the best ever.

If you can swing it....keep the X and do a 2yr lease on the 335. In two years some of the first year kinks of the M3 will be ironed out and the initial scramble and mark-ups will have died down.
