At least she's California's embarrassment now and not Georgia's.

'nother bright spot - she can't do much damage rattling around with the rest of the Green Party nuts...

I've known she would be running for some time now. They started talking about it last summer. A family member of mine knows her personally and is good friends with her, and I'll most likely vote for her. She's 95% in sync with my views on all the issues. The most important issues in my view are that she is in favor of immediate withdrawal from Iraq and having real investigation of the 9/11 attacks.

Immediate withdrawal... You can't move that many troops 'immediately'.

I'm pretty sure when they say "immediate" they mean to begin removing them immediately. Of course it will take a few weeks to complete, but it is by no means a project that will take years.

Wtf? Man, do you know anything about how DoD really works? You couldn't get those troops out in weeks if you tried. Do you have any idea how much hardware is there over these years? How about the fact that every DoD civilian & contractor better be pulled first as they would be 'slaughtered' following a troop withdrawal. Not to mention you can kiss our multi-million dollar embassy we've started building good-bye.

You can't get a server through DoD without about 2 weeks of paperwork. Or how much paperwork is involved in simply moving a contractor on task in Iraq? Do you know how long it takes to plan a troop deployment or plane/ship exercises....these take months of prep/planning before execution. It is not like you just through 160,000 guys on some planes and say bye-bye.

Unless of course you'd like to see more Vietnam-style civilian extractions from rooftops via military choppers.....

Whatever it takes, just start the process immediately. They can't withdraw if they don't start the process to withdraw. Trust me that Ms. McKinney knows more about the military than either you are I do. She served in Congress for over a decade and was a member of the House Armed Services Committee.

Vietnam was totally different. In Vietnam our "withdrawal" was not much different than Germany's "withdrawal" from France during WWII. It was not voluntary. We were defeated and thousands of our troops were captured by the North as they captured Saigon. It wasn't as much a "withdrawal" as an escape.

In Iraq, there can be a very orderly withdrawal which should take no longer than the few months it took to send the troops there prior to the war.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that. Serving in a committee and reading about how jobs are done is very different from being on the ground and seeing what is actually done.

Orderly withdrawal, if that were true that would mean the US has established order in Iraq, which means we won...yay us.

The presence of US troops in Iraq is what is causing the disorder. What you suggest will never happen. There will be disorder in Iraq until our troops leave.

You and I obviously disagree, as if there were a time when there 'was' order in the ME in the last 3000 years.
