Whatever it takes, just start the process immediately. They can't withdraw if they don't start the process to withdraw. Trust me that Ms. McKinney knows more about the military than either you are I do. She served in Congress for over a decade and was a member of the House Armed Services Committee.

Vietnam was totally different. In Vietnam our "withdrawal" was not much different than Germany's "withdrawal" from France during WWII. It was not voluntary. We were defeated and thousands of our troops were captured by the North as they captured Saigon. It wasn't as much a "withdrawal" as an escape.

In Iraq, there can be a very orderly withdrawal which should take no longer than the few months it took to send the troops there prior to the war.
