GT-R getting cooler by the minute.

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/22/n...speed-limiter/

Quote:
We know that the Nissan GT-R's ECU wizardry is impressive, but this little tidbit left us in awe. According to our friends over at the GTChannel, the GT-R's integrated computer limits the vehicle's speed in Japan to 111 mph (180 km/h), but once the GPS system detects that you've arrived at a domestic circuit, it removes the top speed limiter for all-out track assaults.

He always was, at least now you get something back. The day they put GPS in a car, they were tracking you

I had not thought about that...I wonder if the factory installed GPS units transmit your VIN number.

I would almost guarantee it is associated with the vehicle. When I called BMW service because my transmission was stuck. Within seconds they told me "your located in a parking garage in Gettysburg at the corner of ... and ...". I was amazed and my car didn't have NAV (for what its worth).

I would bet a dollar that they know the VIN with the GPS signal.

On the side: I wish we could build software to use GPS to locate speed traps and commit them to your NAV so you could see the cops on the screen (go Need for Speed).

Big brother can watch me all they want... As long as they are willing to direct me to the closest Starbucks for a latte.

That is simply awesome!

I want a GT-R... and then I don't want a GT-R. What do I want?
