Question Stupid Laptop Power Cord Question

The power cord to my sister's Dell laptop is no longer working. Can she buy a new one from Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. or does she need to get one directly from Dell?

you can find it on eBay.

Just look for the right one for her laptop.

Make sure it's not the power supply or the power connector in the laptop itself before you spend money on a new power adapter.

Thank you, both

I'm pretty certain it's the power cord. For many months now, it would only charge if she puts a book under the plug where it enters the computer to sort of prop it up. Looks like her Redneck Engineering finally crapped out.

That's what I wondering. How do you know it's the power cord? Is it visibly damaged? Power connector is the laptop would be my first guess.

So you're thinking it could be the actual part on the computer that the cord connects to that is messed up? Hmmm.....how do I determine which it is?

Get the cord first, it is not expensive.
