When I went on the cruise in June, I unplugged everything in my house. When I plugged the computer back in, it wouldn't turn on. I left it plugged in for about 45 minutes and tried again and it fired right up. It's been fine ever since...until now. Any ideas??

First off, it's a Dell. That should explain a lot.
Second, is the sound coming from within the computer or in the speakers? If it's coming from inside the computer, it probably is a failing hard drive. If it isn't a bad HD, it may be a bad logic board.

If it kept making a beep beep beep beep beep noise that means an alarm was going off.
Probably an overheated problem, but you said you turned it off yourself. So I doubt that. Anyways on the back of the desktop there is a switch. Flip it then flip it back. |

Can you get into the BIOS or does it will not power on. Maybe a bad power supply.
Had a recent bad experience with Dell and their support nightmare. Never buying a Dell again. |

Just a guess here, but based on your description, I would say a fan failed somewhere and caused something to overheat and burn out. My guess would be on the video card (that seems to be the most common failure in my experience).

The same thing happened on my laptop, it was overheating and automatically turning the computer off
