Pretty tough to be a Patriots fan after this.
Bill Belichick really pushed the envelope and justified the filming as a misunderstanding. Sad part is the team has a lot of talent and this will overshadow the players outstanding performances over the past seven years. |

What can they really do to punish them if found guilty?

They already were punished, though the commish said he would do more if more came out. Not sure what you'd do aside from doing something to the coach.
The problem, totally IMO here, is that Belichick is TOO DAMN COCKY. He has so much talent on last years team that he didn't need any help. And to go and play the Jets, with Mangini at the helm, and videotape them was just dumb. He knew Mangini knew his tactics...why do that there? Think about it. If they hadn't been 'caught' by the Jets, this whole issue never arises.

Please not another sport turned into controversy haven like baseball. I used to love baseball and now it's a ridiculous joke of a national sport.

It's time to do something that I felt should have been done this past season... The Patriots should be barred from participating the playoffs next year, no matter what their record is. Of course, they should be given a choice-- if they get rid of Belichick then all is forgiven and they can make a run for the Superbowl next year.
The goal here should be to get rid of a cocky, offensive, egotistical coach. Nobody is indispensible-- no matter how good they are. The Patriots should teach Belichick this lesson. |

Kraft would never let Belichick go. Even if he did, Dan Snyder or Jerry Jones would pick him up in a heart beat.
IMO, you can't restrict the game like that. Just punish bad moves when you can. Roger Goodell has done an amazing job thus far IMO.

But.... Why, why, why!? He had the talent! Good grief!
Then again we must remember that Belichick was run out of Cleveland where he didn't do anything with the Browns... And then he jilted Parcells and the Jets when he bolted after only one day as head coach. So is it possible that he was worried in the begininng about whether or not he was going to succeed in NE? Now after 3 out of 4 SB wins, it seems like it was always a forgone conclusion. That he was always a genius. Always cocky or arrogant... Wasn't always the case.... Maybe initial insecurities drove him to cheat and then he just continued even after success because no-one caught him... |
