With all the gun talk i could have used one this morning

So i get up about 8:30am and i'm thinking well i think i handled the time change pretty well so i go into the bathroom... We have some acreage around the house so we do not have curtains on any of our windows..Out of the corner of my eye i see our ginger cat outside hauling ass up a tree and he doesn't stop till he's at the top of that 50ft tree and then he balances himself at the top...I'm thinking i've never seen him do that before and then i see what is at the base to the tree....WOW ... i didn't even know we had these in Texas.... I grabbed the camera and by now my kids were with me...the cat saw us through the window and it was like he always kept an eye on us while he was moving...We got some good video of him as well...For those that know about wildlife have these animals (i'm assuming it is a bob cat ) ever attacked small children

Cool pics...I've never seen them sit for a pic like that.
They are far ranging in the US: we have them frequently
around our Mtn house in NC. And, of course they are
common, but seldom seen, here in the FL 'burbs.

Your cat was doing the right thing; ours are very afraid
of them also. The Bob cat can put a hurt on cats and
very small dogs. It is absolutely no threat to your kids.
I wouldn't shoot it...

We have large windows that start maybe 12 inches off the ground and are probably 8ft tall so he could see my son standing next to me...My son was wearing a dark t shirt with white cross stripes and i initially knocked my camera lens against the window... the cat heard us and looked at us and then he started to come towards us and sat down like u see in the pics... my son of course could not keep still and was jumping up and down... it was like the cat was sizing up my son...i went to open the window a little bit so i could get a camera shot without the glass in the way but i soon as he heard the latch click he walked away but watching us the whole time until he was gone

I saw Bobcats fairly regularly when I used to hike in the mountains north of San Francisco. I never felt that there was any danger and used to be able to get pretty close to them. My kids were really small; we were still carrying in child carriers so their safety wasn't really a concern. I wouldn't shoot one. I must say that they were generally smaller than this one that you shot though...

Even saw a mountain lion once. Was able to watch it, mostly with binoculars, just across a small valley. I couldn't believe how calm it remained even though, at one time, there were as many as 8 of us watching it.

Great shots Soccerjunky. Where I'm from there's bobcats and coyotes. My neighbors have seen coyotes, but I haven't seen one yet. I hear them all the time though. We had a period where some of the local cats went "missing" and I suspect it may have been the coyotes.
