Still looking at a 335xi but won't pull the trigger until fall, wish BMW was offering roll ahead leases.

It should be an improvement over my current X5 4.4.

The Honda Accord Hybrid V6 was a close as anyone has come to a drivers car that is a Hybrid. It was a flop and is no longer made.

If you can afford a BMW, don't cry about the price of gas for yourself. The only person you can worry about is the average consumer. The average Joe is getting KILLED right now and that is just going by the side.

I got a nice little letter from Uncle Sam yesterday saying we would be part of their CPI survey this week. Can't wait for that call Although, I find it insanely bias that they have a family of our income level on their survey. Not to say we are rich by any means but we are not making the average US salary of $45,000 a year.

I for one am curious to see how many business go bye-bye (airlines, shipping, delivery, etc..)

I can afford a BMW, a boat and many other gas consuming products.

I care about gasoline consumption since it impacts my disposable income and the environment.

I don't understand why a Rav 4 V6 (burning regular gas) gets better MPG than the 335XI ? Yes BMW is high performance and higher power but you would think that the turbo would achieve that and only impact MPG when you push it.

There is way too much to discuss in terms of internal combustion engineering to even get into in this thread that would explain why a certain V6 has better MPG then a TT I6. But, to simplify......less performance generally will get you better fuel economy. That is why the Prius doesn't have stellar times. That said if your primary concern is MPGs, go with a smaller more efficient engine.

I typically get try to get both power and high mpg for example:

1) My 4.4 X5 gets about the same MPG as the 3.0

2) The Rav V6 gets good mpg and goes fast. I am not saying the Rav drives like the BMW just that it has a lot of power.

The 335 is much smaller than a X5, you would think it should get better MPG?
