No clue, we purchased a house on some property that had burned down and during the rebuilding he was living in the construction. When the house was completed he thought it was his house so we adopted him. That was about 9 or so years ago and he was no spring chicken back then.

Awww... I read his story last night and wanted to reply but I'm on 56K dial-up at the moment with limited free hours. That was quite a story.

So sorry to hear of his passing, I'm a sucker for animals too. I lost a cat I'd had for 18 years last September and still miss her.

Pardon me for asking but did you take him to be put down, or did he just go on his own?

Thanks, animals are part of the family and 18 wonderful years supplied you with many great memories.

My girl black lab has cancer and when the time comes it will be heartbreaking so my wife and I are just enjoying her company in the time she has remaining.

I'm not big on euthanasia unless there is suffering so for the most part I let nature run its course. I once owned a veterinary laboratory so I have some things on hand which will keep a dying animal comfortable in the last days.

My wife gets too upset so I'm usually the one who tends to the critters in their final hours.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Pet loss is as bad as family loss, alas our pets only stay with us for such short time, its almost unfair for us. I hope you gave your adopted cat a great life, that is all pets can hope for. Hope you get to spend all the valuable time left with your lab as well, I have too many pets myself and lost one a few years ago, i dread the day that will come again when i lose another one. my thoughts are with you. kirk

Sorry to hear. Pets are a wonderful part of life, but as we all know life is limited. Sounds like he was lucky to have found your family.

LabGuy,
Sorry to read about your cat; our current cat twosome are both pushing
19 and we wonder if they will outlive us. The creatures we bring into
our homes certainly become part of the Fam.
