Fill-Up Quick

Hey guys, I've been monitoring the news around here and here is some note worthy info. New Orleans is a major supplier of gas for the US. The talk around the Gulf States is as follows...if Katrina continues as a cat 5 hurricane, we are in for more trouble than you can imagine. The speculation is that gas will go up about .20 per gallon almost overnight. Now, while I don't subscribe to everything I see on the news, the recent events around gas prices made me respond to this info, I just got back from the gas station. $2.74 a gallon is already too damn high........Phil

Chicago is even worse. Premium is no less than $2.99. In many places, its $3.09.

doesn't matter...the price will be going down anyway...summer travel is over...which was the only true reason the price was high to begin with. It will go up again around October under the guise of "heating oil demand"

No, you have it right 4.6 Ryder. Gulf coast supplies most of the midwest gasoline. Besides, the oil chain uses ANY excuse to jack up or to keep high prices.

As Warren Zevon wrote, "Send lawyers, guns & money...the s hit has hit the fan!"
Asheville, NC local news said few stations had more than a day's worth of gas.
The stations at the foot of my mtn may have some; gonna check tomorrow.
Some terminal in Spartanburg that "jobs"/supplies most of the gasoline in our area, reports they are about out.

Good friends of ours driving back up to the mtns here, today, from their joint in FL, said gas was a bit tough to find along the way. That and high 2s for reg.

It will only get worse before it gets better, in the short run. I don't wanna sound like some whiney socialist, but between "gov't at work" and the petro prods distribuition system, this is not gonna be fun, I suspect.

BTW, don't forget the US has a 670 billion barrel oil surplus (11th largest in the world) for use when some un-foreseen event stops supply....but when the President issues use of the stockpile it's in amounts like 5 million barrels...just enough to stop consumers from shooting each other over oil.
