Say what????.........
The bill would subject OPEC oil producers, including Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela, to the same antitrust laws that U.S. companies must follow. Thats right twist their arm... Your gonna get great results.....

Lets just form a tighter bond with Canada & Mexico and get our oil entirely from those countries.

Just pondering this Oil thing.
I wonder where this whole issue will be after the election. Somehow i get the feeling that sometime after the Bushman is gone and people exhale things might be different. I just get the feeling that when people don't like you they are not about to help you. And i dont believe Mr. bush has made many friends along the way. No it won't stop profiteering but the positive spirit of the entire populace could bring some relief.

Well IMO we contributed to the oil hike by lowering our dollar value with poor investments in real estate and piss poor trade agreements. However, Joe Public, this is your fault. Your constant need for Wal-Mart products that drove producers to find the cheapest possible price. This grew China and India's economies in record number. This drove their energy need...now you have our current situation.
Once Bush is out I think you'll find other countries much more agreeable as long as the next admin takes the time to think plays through without listening to their VP as though he is the voice of God. Psss America, Bush wasn't the problem...>Tricky Dick< was.

Well I don't think you can blame the consumer for trying to get a deal. They aren't always going to think about "this is made in america and cost $10, and this one is made in China and cost $6, well let me take the more expensive one to make sure america stays in business.. I'll just skip the milk purchase this week since I didn't save that $4"
Maybe somewhat unrelated- but I ran into a man at the grocery store the other day and we struck a conversation because he liked my X5. He asked how much is gas etc and he said "well you can't afford the gas, I can't afford the milk." He told me his wife puts 50% water in the milk now because its just that much more expensive and they can't afford it. What product do you think he would buy? I get your point though - there were many reasons why we are in the current state of affairs. |

Free market system, the consumer drives it...whether they realize it or not. They can get a deal all they want, just don't complain later about it ![]() Pss: the new lending laws for real estate with all the gov oversight will drive "mom & pop George Baily lender" out of the market and all home loans will be done through mega-banks. Enjoy that cost in about 5-8 years.
