Question Holiday weekend traffic observations

So boys and girls, how did you find the roads this weekend? I normally hit the road early summer weekends to avoid the traffic and the weekend warriors. Saturday I decided to sleep in (7am ) do some stuff around the house before heading out. I started up the X at noon and was anticipating a hellish drive into NJ and south on the parkway. I didn't go far but it's normally a brutal ride. As I came around the ramp to the outerbridge expecting traffic to be at a standstill, there was nobody....I didn't even have to yield, I just kicked her and went. No back up on 440 approaching the GSP. I didn't have hit the brake going over the Driscoll bridge.

Same thing yesterday. I headed out at 10am expecting shore traffic and there was none.

I guess $4 gas is taking its toll on the average guy.

Same here - went to DE beach on Sun to surf and no one was on the road. Considering I was down the road at 5 am to catch the first waves. On Monday, did the same thing going down to LBI and no traffic.

Hard to judge from here; the only "trip" we did was driving over the BlueRidgePkway to
Asheville, taking the long way for errands we had to run, in the Vette. It was Sunday
and the BRPkway was bumper to bumper with touristas as opposed to its near empty
weekday look.

I must say the couple of mini malls we hit that day, were less packed than usual...
the overall econ is wearing some people down, imo.

That was our "joy ride" for the week; at least we took the economy car.

I was all over NY/NJ/LI this weekend and the roads were pretty open, but then again I travel early or at meal times to avoid the traffic, but still, they were pretty open.

Last year I went to Montreal and got stuck for hours at the US/Canada boarder on my way back because of traffic. On my way back this past weekend there were *gasp* 4 cars ahead of me in line at the US/Canada boarder.

The roads here were pretty clear. Downtown DC was a pain, but that's expected given the Memorial Weekend and Rolling Thunder or whatnot. Freeways were fairly good.

We didn't travel much. However, I took a friend out to ice cream, and then we had a heckuva time on the backroads, the X3 like it was meant to be driven. And burning 15 litres of premium fuel.

it was pretty clear here for the most part, except yesterday on my break at work went to get some food from panera which is a 15 minute drive from where i was working did not realize there was a parade and it took an hour and a half total. for the most part the weekend was good and i did have some fun on the backroads out in the burbs

The traffic here is horrendous, but I guess you could say I'm in a different position because the highways are being repaved. It has spilled out onto every main road of the North Shore.
