they don't actually go in ur ear. the vznavigator person doesn't
speak the whole time; so, in between turns, u can rock out to
bubba sparxxx. well, for 1, u shouldn't be driving and texting at
the same time. shame on u.

GW is usually bad but can be ok on Saturday. Alternate route I suggest (if you want to fly and pay tolls) is Garden State Parkway all the way to I-87 East to Tappan Zee bridge to I 287 East to 95 north and then take the exit for Crab Shell. You can also switch to Hutch Pkwy from I-287 at exit 8 S-N.

And I will add to Barry's list

I looked at this route and this is the way that I am going through from Philly. I don't want to go through the City or near that place. I may get diverted to a "dollar store":p

That's the route I take. You can take the NJ Turnpike to exit 11 which will put you on the parkway.

Ok...I was able to click "Avoid" enough on Mapquest to get the route Sunil mentioned. This is it, right?:
  • Merge onto I-95 N via the ramp on the LEFT (Portions toll) (Crossing into DELAWARE). 45.6 mi
  • Merge onto I-295 N toward NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE/ DEL MEM BR/ NJ-NY (Crossing into NEW JERSEY). 6.4 mi
  • I-295 N becomes NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE N (Portions toll). 73.0 mi
  • Keep RIGHT to take I-95 N/ NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE N toward CARS/ TRUCKS-BUSES (Portions toll). 17.9 mi
  • Take the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY exit, EXIT 11, toward WOODBRIDGE. 0.6 mi
  • Merge onto GARDEN STATE PKWY N (Portions toll) (Crossing into NEW YORK). 43.2 mi
  • GARDEN STATE PKWY N becomes NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY N. 1.8 mi
  • Take the I-87 S/ I-287 E exit, EXIT 14-1, toward NEW YORK CITY. 0.5 mi
  • Merge onto I-287 E/ I-87 S/ NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY S via the exit on the LEFT toward TAPPAN ZEE BR (Portions toll). 11.9 mi
  • Keep LEFT to take I-287 E/ CROSS WESTCHESTER EXPY via EXIT 8 toward WHITE PLAINS/ RYE. 11.4 mi
  • Merge onto I-95 N (Crossing into CONNECTICUT). 7.9 mi

Those are horrible directions. Just

Take the NJ Turnpike to the GWB.
Take Cross Bronx Expressway and follow the 95 North signs
This takes you to the NYS Thru-Way into CT
Then take exit 7.

I'm assuming the crane collapse will affect my traffic?

Don't listen to Clint (sorry). The trip is more miles going the parkway over the Tapanzee bridge and to 95 but it's a much easier/faster ride. I HATE the GWB. I always take the parkway to the Tapanzee bridge when I travel to New England.

The crane will not affect you if you go my way.
