Nearly 100 Cars Keyed At Concord Audi Dealership

CONCORD -- Concord police are investigating the vandalism of nearly 100 cars at an Audi dealership over the weekend that caused at least $500,000 in damage.

Police were called to Diablo Audi at 2001 Market St. around 9:30 a.m. Saturday in response to a report that 98 cars at the dealership had been keyed on all sides, police Cpl. Kerry Cerletti said Monday.

Cerletti said the vandalism happened between 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, and that the damaged cars were new and used vehicles for sale, as well as cars that had been dropped off by their owners to be serviced. "They keyed every single car on our lot," said a woman who answered the phone at the dealership today.

Sales manager Chris Schniegenberg said he arrived at work and noticed that one car had been keyed; he then noticed a second.
"I thought that it was only two cars and somebody said 'There's another one out front,'" he said. He called the vandalism "mind boggling" and said employees are working with police to determine who is responsible.

"You never really know what happens in the minds of people but there's a couple of prospects that we're investigating," Schniegenberg said.
Police estimate the damage at about $500,000 but Schniegenberg said it will cost $8,000 to $10,000 to repair each car, which could bring the cost to nearly $1 million. He said the dealership remains open for business today.

This reeks on an inside job. I used to own couple of dealerships, and whenever there was a vandalism, it was a disgruntled ex employee. Stupid.
They WILL get caught.

Not hard at all. People are questioned, they lie, they trip over their own lies, they crumble. Others have accomplices that give them up under pressure and threats from the police. Some brag to their friends/sweethearts, who have their own agenda, and give them up.
If the asshole keyed couple of cars, the cops would spend very little time on this. Because it's a large damage, they WILL go the extra mile in solving it. This is now a "high profile case" with a large monetary value. Insurance investigators (even more persistent than the local police!), are already questioning everyone.
Trust me,....I've seen it before.

Uh yeah..someone brags or talks..sure they trip over their words in questioning great...BUT....With no witnesses, and no video evidence...How will you prosecute? Unless the suspect(s) actually ADMIT to doing it...they've got nothing....This isn't TV...Any crap lawyer can get you out of this mess.

You've got to have more then people bragging and hearing things, and tripping over their words in questioning. With no witnesses, and assuming there is no physical evidence left at the scene, and no video evidence...You have to have admission of guilt.. or you've got nothing... Now if you have an eyewitness that comes forward and says "yeah I saw them do it, I can identify them in a line up or in a court room, etc" That's different..You have a case.
