Tonight Titanic the Final Secret

Bob Ballard tells the story once classified of the true mission to search for Titanic. Looking for funding for his Titanic search the Navy sends him on a secret mission to find two sunken nuclear submarines from the cold war near the place the Titanic had its deadly encounter with an iceberg.

Tomorrow evening Ghost Ships of the Black Sea

New HD footage of ancient Byzantine wreck well preserved by the oxygen deprived water caused when salt water from the Mediterranean sea spilled into what was once a large fresh water lake. The heavy salt water has rested on the bottom leaving an oxygen starved lower layer of death. Not even the wood devouring organisms can survive which is why the 1500 year old ship lay preserved.

Great shows in HD worth watching.

No worries if you have Comcast...Both shows will be shown in both formats. Comcast has National Geographic Channel and National Geographic Channel HD.

Still worth watching.

No cable up here at 5,000 ft elev.
DISH sat, and I get the Nat Geo channel.

I may DVR it, as I'm playing Geezer Pokah this eve.
But, I really miss HD; it's sorta like dope.

I'm still using the TV below as my primary television. Most shows are still in 4:3 so it did not make any sense going to a 16:9 and having the black bars on the sides. It is still a stunning picture and it is also a High Definition TV so I still get the HD experience. The format conversion is almost complete and my decision to stay with this will be a good one for this reason. New wide screen LCD's have improved greatly over the last 3-4 years and the price has really come down in that time as well. Had I been an early adopter I would have spent 5K for an inferior picture.

If size is in issue I also have a 9 foot 16:9 electric projection screen and a Sony HDTV projector for that Movie experience.

What shows are you watching? Just about everything is broadcast in HD now.

Really don't watch much TV...The local news is fine in 4:3 non-hd and regular shows are not necessary in HD. As more and more becomes HD which is getting that way now I will change over. This TV is fine for most shows and I do have the HD 16:9 movie theater for the good shows and movies. If it was not for the projector I would have changed over long ago.

Do any of you program your directv tuner on their website?

I find the interface to be slow and annoying, but I could also see how, if further developed, it could be a very nice feature. You set your recorder from your office, blackberry, iphone, etc.
