2 Marines Who Filmed Puppy Cliff Throwing Video Disciplined
YouTube.com removed the video for violating the Web site's terms of use. Officials did not specify the role that each man played in the incident, which received international attention after a video of it appeared on YouTube.com March 3. Lance Cpl. David Motari is being processed for removal for his role, the Marine Corps said, and Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion also has been punished. The video shows someone throwing a black-and-white puppy off a rocky cliff. The dog makes a yelping sound as it flies through the air. "That's mean. That was mean," someone off-camera is heard saying. YouTube removed the video about a day after it was posted, "due to terms of use violation," the site said. The Marines were quick to condemn the video when it surfaced, calling it "shocking and deplorable." Marine officials said the disciplinary action followed a thorough investigation, according to a statement that the Marine Corps Base Hawaii released Wednesday. Sorry but I don't think this is enough, maybe it's the animal lover in me, or the dog owner or in, or the human being in me, but I'd prefer to take a tire-iron up the side of both their heads, or throw them over this cliff, which ever hurts them more, where is that doctor?[/COLOR]

I agree with you, boi. The idiots who did this are not warriors. True warriors would never kill anything for fun. These guys are despicable, and do not deserve to wear the uniform.

I watched the video. I'm not sure why I subjected myself to it but I did see it. It was part of a news story. These guys are truly scum. As statdoc stated, they are not warriors and not what the Marines are all about. I think they are the product of relaxed recruiting standards and were defective to start with. I don't want anyone accusing the Marines or the war of causing these monsters with that conduct.

The video made me literally enraged, hence the tire-iron comment, they deserve extreme pain, and usually I don't say that, but something about this just makes me furious

Sad indeed. Jerks and idiots make up every aspect of human society. I say lather them up with dog chow and lock them up naked with a pack of rabid dogs. Let the punishment fit the crime.

I saw the video and I'm with you on that BBoi. Any local SPCA would lock them up for a while, I hope the Marine Corps does even more. At least the incident will be on their records for the rest of their lives.
I also agree with PNG, those guys were messed up before they even enlisted. Makes me wonder what their parents are like too.

One of my greatest fears has always been that I would find myself in a situation where someone had done something like that to one of my pets. The fear is from the fact that I know I would do something far more illegal in extracting my own revenge/punishment.
If I knew the identity of the person who had killed/tortured one of my animal pals, then I would likely spend the rest of my life in state prison after doing something on par to that person. Not too many years ago, two juveniles broke into a local house and killed half a dozen cats with baseball bats and their bare hands. Their punishment in criminal court was hampered by the fact that cats are viewed as property of surprisingly little value ($8 or 10 per cat, I forget). The court was hard pressed to find them guilty of misdemeanor vandalism. If I had been the owner of those cats, I would have dedicated the rest of my life to re-creating their suffering on those boys. This has been among my nightmares ever since. D |

One of the marines was 'expelled' from the corps. Who knows what the other got, but that is wrong on so many levels. Not only the blatantly obvious fact of cruelty to animals, but how it portrays our soldiers over there. The news isn't going to show the good deeds done every day, only the hate and violence such as this. Wonder where PETA is on this one. I lost any faith I had in PETA after one occasion. A nearby college had what they declared " an unsafe amount of deer on the campus" so they hired bowhunters to come in and kill 50 (out of season). The corpses were then laid and field dressed in public view. A close family friend found out about this plan a few days before the 'hunting' started and called PETA. It was implied that for a donation, PETA would certainly look into things. Refusing the concept of donating or joining PETA herself, the animals were killed and there was no help from the group.

That's just sick/sad. It's hard to believe that someone would do something like this for fun. I haven't seen the video, but was curious if they were smiling and joking about it pre and post tossing the puppy? Did they show any signs of remorse or regret? Did it seem like a spur of the moment thing or premeditated? I just wonder what could go through someone's mind who does something like this. Even worse, who would do it and take so much 'pride' in what they've done that they would post it on you tube? sick, sick, sick, sick
