On July 1st, The Republic of California has a yet another new firearms law going in to effect. It's referred to as the CFLC law and in short, it requires any firearm being shipped to a CA FFL from
any FFL (out of state or in-state) to have a pre-approved letter from CA DOJ permitting that shipping - even if it's shipped across the street! Non-FFL shippers can ship to a CA FFL without this permission letter. Basically it is requiring dealers or individuals who are already licensed federally by the ATF and already required to follow rigorous procedures and record keeping to do a token act of requesting a hall pass for a firearm to be sent to another federally licensed dealer.
Read about it here.
It's just another way California wants to control every aspect of firearms sales and ownership. It will not reduce illegal sales or possession of firearms because criminals don't care about requesting letters of permission. Remember that this only applies to people/businesses already licensed to sell guns. It's all bureaucratic political feel-good legislation.
What's next???
