Attention: California gun owners & other gun owners
Read about it here. It's just another way California wants to control every aspect of firearms sales and ownership. It will not reduce illegal sales or possession of firearms because criminals don't care about requesting letters of permission. Remember that this only applies to people/businesses already licensed to sell guns. It's all bureaucratic political feel-good legislation. What's next???

Just another attempt to make things more difficult. As if the average, law abiding citizen, is the one committing crime with a gun. To me law enforcement has become inept at dealing with the mass of illegal firearms and has looked for an easy way out so that they can push the blame somewhere else. Maryland actually tried to pass a law to serialize ammunition, meaning you'd have to get rid of any ammo you already had and buy serialized and you could make reloads. I'm actually shocked it didn't pass.
More non-sense, just like airport security, to make people who are afraid think that the government can help them. I would simply ask this, anyone who think that guns are best left in the hands of the police should go to a firing range once, and see them shoot. Then tell me that they are your best defense. Now, they aren't all bad, but at the range the mass public is far more accurate then the police I've seen. Not to mention they start qualifying at 7'. I heard the best line about Maryland the other day, "Maryland doesn't approve any gun, they just don't disapprove them all"

A lot of dealers out of state dealers are starting to boycott california and simply not do business with anyone in california anymore.
The whole ammunition serialization thing was funny. The company who lobbied the idea had no clue as to how difficult and expensive it would be for ammo factories to integrate this process in their manufacturing. They simply used references that laser serialization is already used for other markets and that it wouldn't be hard for ammo mfg to do. They wanted to put matching serial numbers on the bullet and shell casings and tried to compare the process to puting serial numbers or date codes on soda cans without considering how many billions of rounds of ammunition are manufactured every year compared to the number of soda cans. |
