A Joel poll...

Every time I see a poll, I think of you, CJ - such is the title...

What was the last cool little (or big) feature you discovered about your X and how long into your ownership was the discovery made?

I discovered that a little blip of the throttle would downshift nicely when needed - works best in sport mode but it works in "D" as well. It was about a year before I discovered this cool little feature and I use it all the time now!

As you may have read, I discovered I had voice recognition with my phone a month after I bought it!

I discovered the extra 12V plug in the passenger footwell on the first day I had the X5. I was installing the floor mats and peered up under the dash. Eureka!

I never knew that was there!
About three months after I got the X5, I discovered the built-in flashlight, which I think is a great feature. I am always finding new little things that the car can do, and it amazes me sometimes.. Today I was thinking about how the cars these days are probably (or hopefully) smarter than the drivers...

Built-in flash light? Whoa? I think finding out accidently that my mom hit the auto-up button on my window when my hand was there, and then having it come down by itself when it hit it was damn cool.

My latest discovery:

If you leave your left turn signal on, and shut off the car, lock and leave, the left-side parking lights remain dimly on.

I first saw Mercedes and Audis being parked with their left-side parking lights on dim in France. I guess it's so that when you park on the standard right side of the road, you wil be seen better with the dimmed parking lights left over night.

I don't know if US-spec X5s will reproduce my discovery, but mine does it.

HAHAHA!! Funny you should ask this!! Two nights ago, I put in that VHS tape that the stlr put under my pass seat, (and never decided to tell me BTW)...Anyway, Im watching all the stuff, and then, WOW!!! They get to the part with using the keys to put the windows up and down remotely! My wife and I ran out of the house in our PJ's to see if it was true!!! And it was! (well only for the DOWN part) Still goes up when you lock the door with the key...

Anyway, I took the for sale sign off of it after that! I still advertise it reluctantly, but I dont think I will be parting with my X anytime soon...It even does the pano roof with the key!! I dont know why the windows wont go UP remotely though...

However, I STILL can not get the auto seating position to work when MY key opens the door!! My wifes key works fine, but mine does it maybe 40% of the time...

I have owned my X5 for 2 months now and recently learned that when geting out of the car in the dark you flash your lights once and they remain on for 40 secs illuminating your way ...

Also only recently I noticed the little lights under the mirrors that go on when unlocking the vehicle

I've had mine for almost two years, but I recently learned that if you push up on the switch to roll up your window, and then shut off the car (say, when you pull up to your house), the window continues to roll all the way up until completely closed -- so long as the key is still in the ignition. I thought that what pretty cool.
