The DIY place I wash mine at has a "Spot-free Rinse". It's water that's been filtered and softened. Really makes it easier to dry spot free. Even if you let it dry on it's own it hardly leaves any spots.

I use a water softener but then again I'm on well water. When I used municipal water I also had a softener. Bummer is the cost of salt and the maintenance but the end result is nice clean soft water.
I'm considering another method like the EasyWater System which uses electronics instead of salt. http://www.easywater.com/

Here is an electric one on FleaBay for $239.95. I don't know how good these are but for washing a car I'm sure it will do just fine.

Stop the presses. I parked my X in one of those same neighborhoods and didn't notice that someone's sprinkler system got me. Whew..... Took a lot of work to rub those spots out. Now I know what their talking about.
