Is your house visible on Google Street View?

I was surprised my home was visible on the site and the close up was close enough to read the license plates on our cars. I live in a small town on a private road and did not expect our house to be part of Google's database.

It was documented sometime before Thanksgiving because pumpkins are on our porch and it was on a Sunday because the wife and I are home and the trash cans are out for the next morning's pickup.

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet.

Have you seen Microsoft's http://maps.live.com ? Their birds view is so crisp clear and close-up that you don't need streetview. Although they are also adding roadview.

Yep, mine is.
I was looking a few days ago, and remembered when Street View was in only like 6 cities, and with incomplete coverage. Now, almost every metropolitan area is extensively covered. Chicago/Rockford/Milwaukee/Madison is extensively covered. SoCal/NorCa is also, and Florida is too.
Lincoln Nebraska, strangely, has huge coverage. Every single one of the little unpaved farm roads are covered, even out in East Bumblefcuk. Strange. There really is nothing there.
It's amazing.

Not in Maine, yet thank god.

It shows my street from the closest intersection but I don't see my house. I don't know about all this

My house is clear as day. Even the cars in the driveway and garage. Not good enough detail to make out the plates, though. The photos seem to be from fall or winter of last year.

This may be a very dumb question, but how do they get the photos from the viewpont of standing in the street?

Ours is there too. The entire world is pretty much mapped now. Google Photo'd Santa Fe in Aug '04. I had a friend's Camper stored for two weeks and Son of a B* if that damn Camper isn't right there in the photog!

How about this poor chump getting a snap shot of his wife or girlfriend giving him an earful.

LOL
