New Stadiums and Season Ticket Prices
Was watching another segment on Real Sports that was discussing the extremely expensive price on tickets for football teams moving to new stadiums.
Evidently Giants fans who have had great seats for a long time are upset about being priced out of their long term "inheritances".. I have mixed feelings about the matter. I understand how important steadfast fans are to a ball club but in the same breath I also understand how team owners feel they should be getting more money for those prime seats. Does the longevity of the fan count for something? I think the ball clubs are being reasonable by: A) Offering the right of first refusal at the escalated prices. B) Offering less expensive seats in the "nose bleeds". After all, if scalpers are selling tickets for $700-$1000 and up, why shouldn't the team owners be entitled to charge the same for those seats. Obviously there are plenty of willing and able customers. I do understand the frustration of following a team for several generations within a family, but should those families be entitled to "rent control" at the expense of the owners?
