Is it me, or did Hyundai steal some ideas...

Came across this pic of their new Genesis...

The front end looks like a Mercedes S-Class, the rear end looks like a BMW 5 series, and the side looks like a Nissan Maxima/Infinity G35

What do you think?

yep..i agree with you with your descriptions. seems like it's been years that hyundai have been 'borrowing' ideas from the major auto makers. Just look at all their cars they somehow resemble other brands. I guess all car makers do it, but not as intense as what hyundai is doing.

I really don't care much for Hyundai...I doubt they'll ever get "luxury" respect in the car world, unless they create a seperate luxury division and call the car something else besides Hyundai..Like Honda (Acura), Toyota (Lexus), Nissan (Infiniti), Volkswagon (Audi), etc...But even then, it would be a longshot..

Yeah, it looks like they've done the copycat thing pretty well on this model. Kind of ironic they named it Genesis...

back in the early days, I remember saying they pull from the XEROX school of car design...

They bought out the E90 lights

Their cars would cost too much if they had to pay actual designers.

Remember, this is how Lexus got big after copying MB for so many years. Don't put it past them. They have already raised their image more than I thought they could.

Heard some good reviews about this car.

The ads read "As quiet as BMW 750i" "Faster than Porsche Boxster" "17 speaker Lexicon surround sound shared only with Rolls Royce Phantom"

Who knows about the reliability.

Hyundai designs and marketing have changed since some top guy from Toyota went to Hyundai. He was making presentations at Hyundai using Toyota logo slides when Toyota found out and sued them.

I guess the one good thing about this luxury "knock-off" is it will continue to generate downward price pressure on BMW and Mercedes. Even though it's way too much of a stretch to call the Hyundai Genesis "competition" to BMW (horsepower alone cannot compensate for rinky-dinky parts and boring suspension). I say bring on the knock-off attempts....
