My iPod G3 died....ugh my 2nd iPod

My original iPod died from crappy battery problem (original 5mb).....then the G3 40 GB iPod battery really wasn't much better but I think the hard drive died....can't restore it....tried....any other solutions....at least my 15 gb worth of songs are on the PC.....love the iPod, but reliablity is worse than the KIA....My Dell laptop/desktop has been very reliable!!

I really don't know what the big deal about IPODS are anyway...MP3 compression sucks and the only way to get around it is to have 256kpbs or higher bitrates for your files....which fills up any MP3 player pretty quickly.

Dr. Kewl do you notice a difference in sound quality between the IPOD and a CD?

Not really, but then again, I usually only use it to transport the music and also listen on the plane with those noise cancelling Bose headphones....

Ahhh thats a good point, the MP3 player would be good for an airplane. I can go along with that That does suck though, will it allow you to transfer your music collection to a new IPOD? I've heard there is software to do it but Apple 'discourages' doing it

Well, it's sad to here this. I am going to be getting a 60gb Photo Ipod very shortly. I hope it lives a healthy and prosperous life.

the zen jukebox 60GB is better than the ipod 60gb imho. (and cheaper) just doesn't have color screen, but then again, who listens to music in color?

No problems with transfering music from the PC to another iPod. Apple iTunes doesn't allow you to transfer music off the iPod back to the hard drive. However, you can use lots of programs such as SharePod for the PC and you can transfer the music off the iPod to any other PC's hard drive (even through the network).

Sorry to hear that you've had so many problems... I've had my G3 iPod for some two years now, and I have not had ONE problem... Sucks that you're going through this.

Did you buy the extended warranty? I did. It was worth it. Got mine replaced for free.
