Opinion Piece *Beware*

You have been warned...

As several people on this forum know I have been really struggling with posting something about Prop 8

However today's post that will remain "nameless" Really Angered me.

All my life I have politely asked to be considered equal in all that I do. I've never understood (or accepted) that I'm a second class citizen. Yet this season I have had people come to my parent's (any my) door to tell me just that.

Vote "Yes" on Prop 8 they said to which I had to hold back my fist (and I'm quite intelligent and up to date on major issues/research etc)

She said "Domestic Partnerships are basically the same thing" I felt saying Screw you, that to me is the just like the African American's being told the back of the bus is the same seat. Is it the same? NO, it's NOT the same, it's 2nd class treatment and somehow because of your church's views or YOUR private interpretation of the bible verse or the environment you grew up in you suddenly hold some right to dictate how me, a total stranger can live and who I can love? Read that, because the AMA and all those other Right-viewing Evangelicals seem to feel they hold just that right.

Now here is where I pause to say I believe everyone has a right to believe what they believe. Where I find issue is when they feel the need to dictate my views/opinions and civil rights.

Your Views and Ideals do NOT dictate how I can live my life and they 100% don't deserve to reduce my quality of life or who I'm allowed to share my life with.

End of Story.

It's time someone took a stand and said "enough is enough"

Many of you have personally met me and I'd ask you to consider if you think it's OK that when I find the "one" for me, I will never be able to stand across from them at the alter and share the joy of becoming "one"

That isn't right!

Marriage is recognized by every major demographic, social circle, nearly all cultures and through all walks of life. A Private view on religion should and can NOT dictate the quality of life of others.

I had to say this because I feel all to often the GLBT community is a punching bag and/or butt of jokes at the expense of Me and many others.
Thank you,
blondboinsd
