My friends of Chinese decent - I have a question.

I travel far and wide for the hint of a good meal. Lately I've been treking to Alhambra/Monterey Park where there is a huge Chinese population.

The restaurant that we go to is in a strip mall, and in the strip mall there are no less than 4-5 stores, in that mall, that specialize in FOOT MASSAGE..

My question is, what's the deal? Is foot massage very popular in the Chinese community? Are these stores "fronts" for something else? Why are there so many? It would seem based on the quantity, they are obviously in high demand..

And it only costs $15/hr ??

Please enlighten me.. I'd really like to know what the deal is..
