Monticello Motor Club?

Has anyone heard of this or been there? It looks pretty interesting but very expensive (it's outside Manhattan)

Pretty oldish news...been in several papers and web sites.
Seinfield is supposedly an investor.

Rt 17 used to be a "commute" to the plant and an ol' stomping ground...
pretty area, but run down and lil' economy.

Monticello is about an hour north of me off of NYS Route 17. As Motordavid said, Sullivan County and the Catskills are nice in terms of landscape, but the entire area has lots of rundown businesses. The area's peak was in the 1950s and 1960s as a resort area for NYC residents, and since then it has had very little economic growth. I do not see how this million dollar membership club is going to survive in that area. Monticello is still about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Manhattan.

it seems to be tailored to people that live in Manhattan with access to helicopters, b/c they say they have a helipad and storage for your car (when I was reading they said they would even pre-heat the engine on the car so that when you get there you literally just put your driving clothes on and jump onto the track at full throttle)

I have clients that are members who frequent the area as a get-away for affluent auto aficionado's. They've mentioned in the past how Accommodating the staff is to just about any "wish" or "need" members may have. I understand that Monticello and the surrounding area is undergoing a renaissance to attract more Manhattan residents as it's only a short drive from NYC. I think Trump once partnered up with Nascar's president to consider building a major speedway in the Catskills but nothing materialized.
