It's "official" Blackberry Storm release date 11/21/08
Should be good timing for the holiday shopping season. I hope they have all the bugs worked out though!

If I was tied to Verizon, I'd be all over this. I'd like to see how the music player works. I use my iPhone running all the time, and that probably isn't the greatest habit, and the touch screen is a bit of a nuisance with that. That said, I live right on the line between 3G and Edge in a small market (Please explain why Greenville gets 3G before Portland) and the 3G has saved my ass on many occasions. (Backwoods IT People "Forgot" our ISP contract was up. NO internet for a week on campus)

YAY!
Lets take the one feature of the iphone that almost everyone HATES, the touch screen. - And lets copy it... Rather than trying to find an improvement.... genius at work.. genius..

Private Sale
Just got a mailing from Verizon that the Private sale starts the 17th.
Not sure that I like tough screen, love my 8830 but would like the camera and more web speed. Will the Storm offer more web speed? |

It sound like the Storm may have some bugs

I played around with the demo at Verizon last Friday and although it is the closest thing to the iPhone it is definitely not as user friendly as the iPhone, I am glad I toyed with one before ordering it...now I am not sure if I want one. The touch screen seems more difficult to use than the iPhone.
Does anyone own a Storm that could give us a report??? |

I am tied to Verizon for the service area provided on the east end of Long Island. I ordered one on Friday, if I don't I will send it back.

I played with the Verizon Blackberry Storm and agree that the touchscreen interface is not as user friendly as the iPhone. I still don't like touchscreen keyboard and the "click" feedback still doesn't make it better. In fact, it was easier to type on my smaller Centro keyboard than either iPhone or Blackberry Storm touchscreen. The Blackberry OS appears to be slower than my Centro's old Palm OS interface. I can access my Calendar or Contact list faster than the Blackberry Storm. I think the original Blackberry Curve has better function because of the regular keyboard. I think Verizon should also release the Blackberry Bold as well. Too bad about Palm....they may go bankrupt before they release their new Palm OS.
