I played when I was 11-12 years old (14 now), not mature enough to learn how to drive properly. This was in NJ too, so driving to the track was also no fun.

Selling is not an option for me, as I won't even get a fraction of what I want back.

As for slot cars, depending on how much you're spending on that kit, look into R/C Cars also. It may be much more fun as you can control everything more, even a cheap $50 RadioShack Xmods car would give endless fun!

I had a bunch of R/C cars when I was growing up. The last one was a Traxxas Bullet (similar to RC-10). I love those things as well and I was considering getting an on-road car because one of the local hobby shops in the area had an indoor track, but they closed it down.

I like the idea of the slot car thing because I think it would be fun if you had a few people over hanging out and wanted to do something different.

R/C cars are only so much fun by yourself at my age too, unless you are willing to drive somewhere to race.

Yeah, the slots I think would also be more "user friendly" as you don't have to worry as much about steering and staying "on track". It's kinda like Rock Band. When I have people over we rock out ... otherwise, eh.

I never had a hobby level R/C but I do have 4 ft. long Mercedes DTMs and 5 ft. F1s (electric R/Cs). They're both AWD (has 2 motors) but just toys not really hobby level. Lemme see if I can scrounge up some pics ...
