B-Line's holiday movie list
I'll start off with the movies I have seen most recently: The Wrestler - Starring Mickey Rourke. This is the film that will undoubtedly be recognized for reviving Rourke's career. It was absolutely fantastic. Directed by Darren Aronofsky who also gave us, Pi, Requiem for a Dream, he has hit a home run with this $6 million dollar film. Marissa Tomei, an aging stripper, is also naked for about 1/2 the movie and WOW does she look great. This is one of those movies that even if you're not a fan of wrestling (which I'm not) is completely captivating. 5 stars. (warning, lots of blood and parts that will make you squirm.) The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons - It was good. Not GREAT, but good. Directed by David Fincher who also gave us the film SEVEN, also starring Brad Pitt. It almost felt like a reversed sequel to Forrest Gump, which makes some sense because the screenplay was written by the same guy. What's really amazing about this film is how they did the CGI to make Brad Pitt look 90 years old on the body of a six year old. I'd give this one 3.5 stars. Slumdog Millionaire - Best movie I've seen in a year or two. I reviewed it a couple of weeks ago and have to still say, it was outstanding. Directed by Danny Boyle who also gave us, Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, The Beach, A life Less Ordinary, 28 days later..... Run to go see this movie. 5 stars. I think I'll be seeing Gran Tourino this evening so I'll be sure to review it if I get my hands on the copy. I love Clint Eastwood and this one looks like he's back to Dirty Harry. Vigilante justice... I haven't seen the Changeling yet but also have it high on my priority list. BOLT - Was good for a Disney film. Not as good as The Incredibles, or Bugs Life or Monsters Inc. or Toy Story, but it was better than: Cars, Wall E. It was a cute little movie for the dog lover such as myself. But don't waste your time seeing it in 3D.. (Again, personal preference, but I don't like 3D. It bothers my eyes and takes me "out of the movie" by reminding me I'm in the cinema, rather than allowing me to forget, relax and watch a movie. Movies I'm psyched to see. STAR TREK... Have you seen the trailer to this movie yet? It looks nothing short of AMAZING. I'm not a big fan of the first generation of Star Trek. I don't mind it but I certainly am not a Trekkie. But when I saw this trailer, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. JJ Abrams who also did an amazing job with the tv show lost and the Mission Impossible 3, looks to have knocked the ball out of the park with this one. Terminator SALVATION.... Also looks awesome, can't wait to see it. That's it for now.. Happy Movie season ![]() Slumdo

Thanks B,
I want to see Benjamin Buttons, too. I've been hearing buzz about Slumdog Millionaire. Is it a limited release? What about Seven Pounds? I've heard mixed reviews on that one. |

Seth, did you see Seven Pounds? Only got a C+ from the big name critics on Yahoo, but users gave it A-. I'm looking forward to seeing that, Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Nope, haven't seen Seven Pounds.. Can't say I've really had any interest. If it gets a good buzz I'll go see it - but it's been crickets so far.
And in this town the good stuff does buzz pretty quick. I'm guessing it's mediocre. Krimson, Yes, Slumdog is a limited release, but it's really worth the effort even if you have to drive out of the way to see it.. You won't be disappointed. I'm also guessing it's going to get a major theatrical release at some point, they just need to find a way to get audiences in the seat for a movie about Indian children. -- It's much easier said then done.
