IIHF 2009 World Juniors Hockey Tournament

Anybody watching?

Game 1, Canada over the Czechs 8-1. US over Germany, 8-2. US plays the Czechs at 7:30 ET today.

Canada plays the US at 7:30 pm on Dec 31.

Semi-finals on Jan 3, gold medal game on Jan 5.

I watch for this tournament every year, it is some of the best hockey on TV IMO, especially when we get to the medal rounds. Is it available in the US, other than the final which one of the major networks often carries?

www.tsn.ca or www.IIHF.com for schedules.

IIHC website shows the NHL network carrying the games in the US. Not sure if that network is widely available.

It's a pay channel on Cablevision.

I wish I could be watching it. It's carried down here on NHL Network which is only available on Direct TV. I have Time Warner Cable and while I get the Center Ice Package I do not get HNIC games as those are exclusive to NHL Net.

Watched it. Began to feel sorry for the Kaz team around when it got to 12-0. Canada went something like 8 for 10 on the powerplay (including a 5 minute misconduct). Kazakhstan played directly after yesterdays game against Germany when they lost 9-0. They were tired and jetlagged, on top of any hockey skill issues.

Video on demand on tsn.ca is good for the highlights. Not great quality, but better than a radio.

Guess they have to run up the score as goals-for count in the event of a tie?

Yes, goals count in breaking ties in this series. Even with that, Pat Quinn had them back off in the latter part of the third period. The Canadian team was also very good about limiting any celebrations, they showed some class.

Didn't see the Senators game, but tomorrow night I have a private box for the Canucks vs Philadelphia. Taking fourteen staff members, including some spouses. Should be good.
