This is a PONTIAC?

Reading that DeLorean obit peaked my interest and I saw the AP ran a story about him, mentioning that he was the man behind the Pontiac GP Wide Track. I've always been into auto design, and I can't believe this car is a Pontiac!

I know it's blasphemy to praise the design of a GM vehicle on a Bimmer site. I know this. I apologize in advance. It looks real good, IMHO. Reminds me of a Boxster of course, right away, and they're gonna sell it for about 22K including a few nice options.

Sure, it'll be heavy for its size at almost 2,900 pounds. It'll only be packing about 170 horses from the 2.4 liter 4-banger under the hood. The interior plastics will feel like pale comparisons to imports. But I gotta give GM props for the exterior.

Ehh, it's ok... Just ok... I can't fully like anything from the company that gave us the Aztek and that new van, the Montana SV6

I saw it at the Auto Show and was impressed by the design. It should be a great seller and a good showroom draw for Pontiac.

Half hearted attempt

Too heavy with too little power. I agree it looks nice, but...

Anyone remember the Fiero? Not too bad looking (in it's time) - but slow. By the time they injected it w/some hp, it was too late. That, and the fact that they liked to catch fire, killed the thing.

My sister had a Fiero way back when. My recollection is that it was the insurance companies that killed it - priced the insurance so high on the vehicle that no one would buy it.

Maybe - my mind is a little foggy on that subject

But I believe that it only had the underpowered 4cyl when launched. They did not give it the V6 until later years - yes?

There's a dude in my neighborhood who drives a Fiero with a Ferrari-like body kit laid over the body. Even Ferrari replica rims on it. We call it the Fierorossa.
