California is a beautiful state but it's becoming increasingly difficult to live here

I'm not a big fan of Southern California which has gone to hell but Northern California is gorgeous. You folks on the East Coast and Mid-West are freezing your nipples off while we bask in the sunshine here in the middle of January.

Once the euphoria of taking in the beauty and warmth has warn off I wake up and realize my paradise is ruled by fools.

I say California residents should put a measure on the next ballot which requires the State Controller put a hold on all lawmakers salaries and heads of State until such time a balanced State budget is passed.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - California's controller says he will begin a 30-day delay on tax refunds and other payments starting Feb. 1 because the state is running out of money. Controller John Chiang said Friday he must delay $3.7 billion in payments next month because lawmakers have failed to address California's growing deficit. With a $41.6 billion shortfall over the next year-and-a-half, the state is on the brink of issuing IOUs. Chiang says his office must continue education and debt payments but will defer money for tax refunds, student aid, social services and mental health programs. A severe drop in revenue has left the state's main bank account depleted. The state had been relying on borrowing from special funds and Wall Street investors; those options are no longer available.

I heard about that, it's simply terrible. Why CA can't live within a budget is beyond me. We are going to have to raise taxes, it's unrealistic to think we can't. We need to marginally raise taxes but focus on cutting the fat in our government. Our state no longer dictates the type of Social Spending and Government Employees it previously did and we need to fluctuate accordingly. It insults me the way government employees act, their sense of entitlement shocks me.

you guys are surprised by this? California is the most OVER governed state in the US. it's embarrassing. I've never seen a state with so many government buildings in EVERY town, it's incredible.

In all fairness..

The state of California (if it were it's own country)is actually the eighth largest economy in the world.
- Not exactly fair to compare it to the rest of the country.

I used to live there, I know first hand.

Redondo,Hermosa and Manhattan Beach are tiny little beach towns, and each one has a HUGE government. Why do they need that? it's ridiculous. Combine them into 1 government and 1 group of services (police, fire, waste, water, etc etc) and save some money.

It seems that in CA if 10 people live within 2 miles of each other, they form a government and start wasting money.

I think California should succeed from the union. Then we can attack Arizona and Nevada and steal their resources and pillage and rape.

And Obama can't do anything about it cause he's gonna be too busy chasing after the white house puppy...

Though Vegas can be like Jerusalem. Since it's so special to so many different cultures, religions and gambling styles, it will mostly go untouched.

Viva la REVOLUTION....

Just know Gresch, the only thing that having a good foundation of proper spelling and grammar qualifies you to do is: proof reading my mistakes.. LOL..

You want to be my copy editor? It pays next to nothing but at least you get first crack at my wonderful prose.
