Wink Even Chilly, Here in SW FLA...

Not looking for sympathy, as it will climb to the mid 60s today and back
to normal by tomorrow, eg mid 70s.

But, have only seen frost once before in 4 winter seasons here. We had
~32 degs F this am. A lil' Frost on the Pumpkin/PalmTree, .
Some snaps I took on my morning walk here in Naples, FL.
Latitude 26 degrees North, Longitude 82 degress W, on the ol'Globe.

I had to scrape ice on my windhsield for the 1st time in a couple years. 26 this morning - I took a cell phone pick of the onbaord temp display at 27.

Of course, my 15 year said I was a dork for doing so.

Pretty darn cold for FLA - trade you for our recent single digits. There must be some physiological blood effect that makes it feel colder to southerners.

Some call it thin blood but I think there is some form of acclamation that happens to warm temps – then when it gets colder it really feels cold. Probably works in reverse for some folks in the north too during the summer.

I think so. To me, 80º is sweltering, while people I go to school with from somewhere like Columbia thing 100º is normal. They don't even have the ocean for a breeze! I cringe at the thought that I might have to stay here for an internship next summer.

Well, 5 AM runs start next month, any GVegas members interested?

Michelle has disabled reputation
A friend of mine is in Florida and, according to her Facebook status, is flipping out because she only packed sandals.

I snapped this picture during my commute on Tuesday morning:

No "southerner" here, as we only do ~5 months here, but I tend to agree
about the effect and "feel". 32 degs back on the Mtn in NC, or NY or...feels much less debilitating
than 32 or, even 45 here, esp. with a breeze or wind.

I am not complaining, as we will be back to near perfect by Friday on...
just unusual to see some frost here at this latitude and at nearly sea level. The older I get, the more
narrow my comfort level seems to be.

Blue, I'm a plant expert back in Zones 5 & 6, and getting up to speed here in solid Zone 10.
We moved our orchids in last night, but we have no tender annuals planted this season, and
the palms, et al, can take one cold night without a problem, imo.

It was a one night cold snap; if I had a grove of citrus I would have done the water spray thing;
the palms and tropicals I have planted around our house shrugged it off. It's hauling azz for the
mid 60s here already.

It was nice and warm 3 weeks ago when I was in Ft. Lauderdale. I just realized I was probably close (relatively) to your shack when we drove down the Alligator Alley to go to the Billy Swamp Buggy tour.
