Yes, many sections of the BRPkway are closed off during storms and, some sections for much of the season,
especially the last section from north of the High Point down to the end in Cherokee. That art. talked of northern VA
where it is actually called Skyline Drive and though it does have some very good views, speeds are 35 for much of it,
the road is more narrow in parts, and deer are a 24/7 concern.

If I sound like a freakin Xpert, I think I am : I've ridden m'cycles from end to end several times, have done many trips
in the Vette, and hammer the "local" last 100 miles with regularity, as the Waynesville,NC entrance is 20 mins from our
Mtn house door.

But, it is a fabulous 469 miles of road with no stop signs, no tourist bs, great views and can be driven/ridden in a relaxing
manner or, hammered on, with an eye out for the Pkway cops. For RightCoasters, it may be some of the finest road, east
of the Rockies, imo.

If anyone wants Blue Ridge Parkway links, I have a folder full...
BR,mD (here in SW FLA, missing western NC)

I'm coming back to Asheville to see the family next month. Unfortunately I won't have the X. Maybe one day I'll get to hit the parkway with it......

There is still ice everywhere...
Here's my contribution from my buddy and my road trip last weekend:

That was ok though, 215 was a ton of fun regardless.

Youry,
Here are some BlueRidgeParkway Links:

Welcome to the Blue Ridge Parkway

Blue Ridge Parkway Guidebook 2008 - Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee

Parkway Maps

Blue Ridge Parkway Guide for Asheville

Biltmore in Asheville:
BILTMORE in Asheville, North Carolina, Americas Largest Home and More!

Cherohala Syway, even better than the BRPkway in many respects:
Cherohala Skyway Robbinsville NC - Tellico Plains TN

My email is a bit of a mess, temporarily working from lap top...

The BRPkway and other "western/Mtn" NC sites are a long way
from Winston-Salem area, but worth it for a weekend, imo.
I live in area and it is freakin fabulous, imo.
