2009 CTSV vs 2009 M5 on Motorweek
0-60 Track time 1/4 mile Price MPG Go CTS-V ![]() M5 won in: lack of brake fade though braking distance was nearly identical. During the test the M5 had a manual, CTSV had an automatic. http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2829b.shtml I was surprised watching the show that the BMW didn't toast the CTS on the track.

It was a pretty good review - I think the price and lower tq is what did the M5 in.

That is typically how it works. One car dominates, like the M5 did, then someone makes a newer model to top it. I would bet the new M5 will top the CTS-V and the cycle will continue. The current M5 is at the end of it's run. Plus, Roebling Raceway is sort of a slower, tight course where the huge displacement and torque advantage of the V shines. |

Kudos for GM. I'm really pulling for them. The new CTS is a great sedan; the Vette is still the best value in sports cars; the new Silverado is kick-ass; and the Volt stands to be a game-changer. Oh, the G8 XP has M5-like performance at half the price.
If they can make it through this recession (and I hope they do), GM will do just fine. They are finally building great cars, and as Americans, we should all pull for them. Juan
