PETA asks Pet Shop Boys to change name...
PETA wants the Pet Shop Boys to now go by Rescue Shelter Boys.  They think it would raise awareness on the "cramped, filthy conditions" that breeders keep animals in before selling them to pet stores. You cannot make this stuff up!

unbelievable. I'm not usually the type to call PETA a bunch of tree hugger types but what does a band name have to do with "ethical treatment of animals"?
Raise awareness? The general public owes you nothing. Sounds like they ran out of people to point fingers at.
