The battery died

Yesterday it got cold and the X5 would not start. Turns out the battery is dead or almost on it's way. RIP.

I got almost 5 and half years out of it. Not bad. It was still the original BMW battery. Bought a new one from BMW for $140

WOW, no warning, slow cranking prior to this ??

Must say though not a bad life for a battery, if you are using it every day in varying weather conditions.

It did crank real slow and then died yesterday. I was hoping to get another year out of it. Is this some kind of a record or what?

I am still on my original battery, but my car is a 02/01 production.

My 1999 E30 325i had the original battery for about 5.5 years before I had to swap it as well!

Considering that the battery is in the trunk i'm guessing that the weather didnt play much of a role!

Lost some of the OBDC settings, clock, date but EQ settings were retained and so were the climate control settings.
